Testing

“You shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not…You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the Lord your God chastens you.  Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God,

to walk in His ways and to fear Him.”

Deuteronomy 8: 2, 5-6 (NKJV)

“He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.  My foot has held fast to His steps; I have kept His way and not turned aside.”

Job 23: 10-11 (NKJV)

“It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes.”

Psalm 119: 71 (NKJV)

“Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.”  Hebrews 5:8 (NKJV)

“…We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character, and character, hope.  And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by

the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.”

Romans 5: 3-5 (NIV)

“Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons.  For what son is not disciplined by his father?  If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.  Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it.  How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live?  Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness.  No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.  Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.  Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees.  Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may

not be disabled, but rather healed.”

  Hebrews 12: 7-13 (NIV)

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches,

in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake.

For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NKJV)

"Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord."

Lamentations 3: 40 (NIV)
